Complete MHT-CET 2007 And Maharastra University Information Explained
The Govt of Maharashtra conducts a Maharashtra Health-Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) for the admission to all Health Science Courses, Engineering and Pharmacy degree courses in State of Maharashtra. Eligibility Criteria: Engineering / Technology Courses
Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate to appear MHT-CET
- Candidate should be an Indian National
- Should have passed/appeared the HSC (Std.XII)Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45%marks i.e. not less than 135 marks out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together AND obtained a non zero score at MHT-CET.
- OMS candidates are eligible to write MHT-CET but they are not allowed to participate in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) .
- They can apply for the admissions against the Institute Level seats as well as the vacant seats existing after completion of CAP, ONLY in the Unaided Private Engineering Colleges/ Institutes. They are treated under OPEN/GENERAL category candidate in the entire admission process.
- Candidate should be an Indian National

Foreign National/Foreign student/ PIO(persons of Indian Origin)/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries/Children of NRI/ J & K Migrant candidates/ Government of India nominees
- Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks i.e. not less than 150 marks out of 300 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
- The NRI candidates are eligible to apply for admission against the Institute level seats, only in Unaided Private Engineering Colleges/Institutes.
- Candidates seeking admission to Biomedical/Bio-Tech Engineering course should have passed in the subject of Biology in the qualifying examination in addition to the other eligibility conditions.
- Female candidates are not eligible for admission to Mining Engineering course.
- For Admission to Marine Engineering Course in Padm. Vasantdada Patil Pratishtan’s College of Engineering, Sion, Mumbai the Candidate should directly contact the Principal of the college for eligibility criteria.
Eligibility criteria - Candidates with Diploma in Engineering/Technology
- Diploma holders in Engineering/Technology with minimum of 50% marks and medium of instruction as English from the Polytechnics affiliated to MSBTE or AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics in/outside Maharashtra State are considered eligible for admission to direct second year of Degree courses in Engineering / Technology (Lateral entry).
- Diploma candidates are not eligible to appear for the MHT-CET .
- Only Maharshrta state candidates are eligible for admission through CAP and also in Govt./Govt.aided / Govt. aided University managed institutes / University Departments for any subsequent institute level rounds.
Merit list of Maharashtra State Candidates will indicate a General State Merit No., State level Category Merit no.General Home University Merit No., Home University Category Merit no etc. For OMS candidates a separate merit list will be prepared based on the MHT-CET score. Each eligible Maharashtra State Candidate who has appeared for MHT-CET and obtained a non zero score in MHT-CET for admission through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) will be assigned a provisional merit number.
Relative merit in case of a tie:
In the case of candidates securing equal number of marks in MHT-CET, their relative merit will be fixed on the basis of the following order of preference:
(i) A candidate securing higher marks out of 100 in the subject of Mathematics in MHT-CET.
(ii) A candidate securing higher marks out of 50 in the subject of Physics in MHT-CET
(iii) A candidate passing the SSC (Std. X) examination with higher aggregate marks out of 750.
(iv) A candidate securing higher marks out of 150 in the subject of Mathematics at SSC (Std.X) Examination.
(v) Birth Date of the candidate -( preference to elder Candidate)

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION
Probable Date of Examination: The examination will be conducted at various centres in Maharashtra during the month of May .
Schedule & Test Design: The MHT-CET will consist of three question papers of multiple choice type having four options with one correct choice.
Each paper is of 100 marks.
Paper I :- Physics & Chemistry (50 questions each)
Paper II :- Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 questions each)
Paper III:- Mathematics(50 questions)
Duration of each paper-90 mints
No negative marking
The candidate desirous of selection to Engineering degree courses should appear for Paper I and Paper III.
Syllabus of Examination:Syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the MHT-CET will be the same as for the current year for HSC Examination of HSC Boards of Maharashtra.
Time & duration of Examination: There will be three papers of one and half hours each.
