WBJEE 2009 on April 19 2009 - No upper age limit for WBJEE exam
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has decided to do away with the upper age limit for candidates appearing for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) next year.
for admission to engineering and medical colleges of West Bengal.
From now onwards, any student above the age of 17 years can appear in the JEE examination.
Last year the board had fixed the upper age limit to 24 years for both medical and engineering entrance examination in the state, a decision which did not find favour with the students.
“There is no upper age limit prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the All India Engineering Entrance Examination, (AIEEE) so the board has decided to do away with any upper age limit,” said Siddharth Datta, Chairman, WBJEEB.
According to sources in the board, a section of the members were keen on changing the pattern by introducing a more subjective question pattern. However, the other members opposed this decision. “Since it is September, the board does not want to confuse the students with any change in the examination pattern,” said Datta.
The board has formed separate committees to look into the infrastructure of the examination centres, publication of prospectus and admit cards.
After the recommendations of the committee the board will decide on date of issue of forms by the end of the year, said the representatives of the board.
